Used as a decorative motif in Peranakan or Straits-born Chinese houses, these tiles found favour with the community and were regarded as a sign of wealth and affluence. They were used to adorn porches, hallways, courtyards and even washstands. Today, they are highly collectible and part of the material culture of the Peranakan community. Here, we have translated one of the more vibrant tiles in our personal collection into our signature beaded bags. It makes an excellent souvenir from our part of the world and is suitable for gifting.

This design is fitted with a 112cm removeable heavyweight coated iron chain for hands-free living.

Our beads are individually handsewn and undergo stringent quality checks at our workshop and by ourselves before being shipped to you. The market loved it, including our competitors who became fans – we see everything, yes, EVERYTHING. (note to readers: imitation is not the sincerest form of flattery!).
